About me
I’ve had a long and interesting life with many ups and downs. I started as a professional man, as an oceanographer, my most prestigious publications being in Nature and Progress in Oceanography, but have spent the last almost 35 years as an entrepreneur, albeit a not very successful one. I had a canal boat business, Twinram Canal Hireboat Co Ltd., from 1975-1984 and a retail business, Bizar, with three outlets from 1977- 1996. Currently I’m living in Criccieth, North Wales and employed in the tourist trade, with two properties to let, one in Porthmadog and one in Criccieth and an internet letting agency selfcateringhols.com. I’m hoping to retire soon and live a life not dedicated to surviving, making a profit and satisfying the various organizations that make every businessman’s life more stressful. I have numerous hobbies and I need to find out which ones I really want to devote my time to. I see retirement as a challenge and a luxury. My father didn’t live long enough to retire and many many people in the world don’t have the opportunity.
